Dear Future Grade 5 Students,
My name is Vy and for Exhibition my partner and I chose Creativity in Schools for our topic. Our Central idea is Society’s Responsibility is to Build a Physically and Mentally Healthy Community. My partner and I thought of a lot of things for our Essential Agreement such as, no talking to other groups, Or being nice and honest because all of those things are very important in Exhibition.
My advice for you is to stay on task all the times because those nine weeks are very short although it might seem long it’s a very long process. My partner and I had talked to some people and that sometimes got us off task. Those times when we were off task were the moments we could’ve done something important.
Another piece of advice for you is to be open-minded when you are doing your work because if you are constantly doing your own idea, then your partner is not getting the chance to share their own ideas. The whole point of Exhibition is to show what you know and if your not being open-minded and letting people show it, then it’s practically your topic.
The last piece of advice I have for you is have fun flipping frazzle time and try to get to know your group members or member because they might be more fun than you think. Although you might have some fights and arguments but sometimes your best ideas are from arguments.
That is all the advice I have for you, I hope you find this advice helpful and do well in Exhibition. I hope you have fun and know that not everything is math and that but it’s a lot more fun than you expect.
I think me me and my partner had really good teamwork because we always kept each other noted during our research. I also think me and my partner had really good teamwork because if one of us wasn’t here we wouldn’t let one person do the work we would find a way to do it.
I think me and my partner did a really good job on our project because we presented our research very well and our art was really good. My partner and I also did a really good job on our project because we were pretty confident and we had really good conversations with adults.
What is the biggest challenge you faced during the process of Exhibition?
The biggest challenge I faced during exhibition is was doing the research and rembering all of it because now there’s so much research you don’t know which is real or fake also and the research was hard to rember because we had so much research.
How did you work to solve or overcome that challenge?
The way that we overcame that challenge was we used a few books during exhibition and also we used websites that teachers, mentors and Mrs.Hooper gave us we also interviewed a lot of people after the mid way reflection. I overcame not rembering by reading it a few times and every practice also helped.
What have you learned about yourself since being involved in Exhibition?
I learned that I am able to talk to new people because during exhibition because you had to ask questions to people I interviewed I also found that the Skype interview was a lot harder than in person.
What was the most important, interesting or meaningful aspect of Exhibition for you? Why?
I think the important thing that I learned were research skills because in fortune years in school you might have harder projects and you’ll be able to make a proper bibliography and have a easier time finding real and fake research.
What would you do differently, or be more mindful of if you could experience Exhibition again?
I would spend a little bit more time on the creative piece because we finished when we still had a whole day left to do our creative piece I think if we spent more time making our creative piece we will be able to make it better and catch more peoples attention.
What advice and suggestions would you like to give to the students who will work through Exhibition next year?
I would say stay on task and do a lot of interviews and read over our research a couple times.
I agree with both of them because we did more interveiws than most groups and we also did a lot of work at home at we read our research at home.
I agree with the talk louder cause I felt that wasn’t talking that loud and also on Monday someone also put on the feedback was talk louder.
I am proud that I was able to finish all of our interviews because at the start we thought of 5 interviews and we did all of them.
Explain who you interveiwed and why you chose them?
Me and my partner interviewed Mr.turner and Mr.Pella becasuse both of the teachers had taught in different countries and that helped us answer how are different school systems alike and different. We also interveiwed the super intendent and associate super indented because we thaught that because both of them would have a good understanding of our school system and if kids are stressed. We also interveiwed Dr.Sharon Friesen because we thought she would be a good interview because she is an expert on creativity in schools because she is a professional in creativity and is a proffesor in the University of Calgary.
What was it like to interview people.
I thought interviewing was probably one of the funnest things to do in exhibition as that was were you would get a lot of research and meet new people.
What was challenging about it?
I thought none of the interviews were challenging except for Dr.Sharon Friesen because she was a professional so she would ask us harder questions and would answer them in harder ways to for us to understand and also it was the longest and the only Skype.
why is it important to interview people?
I think it’s important to interveiw people can make it a lot easier for your research and there a primary source. I also think that since there experts they know a lot about your topic and they share all they’ve learned.
what did you gain from interviewing people?
What I gained from interveiwing people was more reliable research and I gained communication skills because we would talk to people you don’t know as well.
What were you proud of?
I was very proud of my art and my research because whenever I do art I always picture something in my mind and when I actually do it it turns into a mess and not even what I pictured. I was also proud of my art because it really demstrated what I wanted to show and it talked more than I did, it’s like when people see it I don’t have to talk because they already get it. I’m also proud of my research because me and my partner were having fun but also were ahead of most groups. I am also proud of my research because I could explain it and it was very well written and were no mistakes.
What was challenging?
One thing that was challenging was remembering the research because we had a lot and knowing me I don’t have a good memory. Another thing that was challenging was presenting it because it was really nerve racking and at sometimes I would get butterflies and mumble in words. Doing the art was kind’ve challenging because me and my partner sometimes messed up on things and had to restart.
What was it like to interview people? It was a really cool experiemce because I got to meet experts and I learned how hey do different things while they answered me and my partners questions. I also felt like I would be ready for jobs and how I might interview people so then I know what to do. It was also kind’ve scary because the people me and my partner interviewed seemed like scary people but in the end they were nice.
Why is it important to interview people? It’s important because you get to have different perspectives and learn different things. It’s also important because some of these questions we thought of might be a little challenging. so you can’t find any of them in books or the internet so you have to interview people.
What did you gain from this? I gained more knowledge and found out new things such as how your brain works or how it was like back 100 years ago. I also gained new knowledge of how I interviewed people and how it works. I also gained my art skills because we haven’t really done a lot of art in class and so it was fun and now I know that not everything you do has to be perfect in every you want.
What do I need to do next?
Next a we have three exhibition practices 1 for the grade 4 and one where the grade 5s look at your exhibition and I forgot the 3rd practice. On wednesday we have the exhibition for the parents at 6 pm. On Thursday we have it at the school.
How do I feel things are going
I feel things are going well because by Wednesday we had finished all of our projects for our display and we started reading our research. I also feel that I have a good understanding of our research.
What I did this week
What we did this week was make our display. What we made was a thinking cap, a banner and a slideshow of then vs now. We also made a mock ted talk.
