“Oh mother have you heard the news?” Ella asked chocking back tears.

“Yes dear we all know about Carrots.” Replied her mother.

“He was the best little fish I have ever had.” Ella cried.

“Well Ella, we have a surprise for you.” Ella’s mother gave her a steel statue of Carrots.

“Thank you, thank you! I love it!” Ella carefully took it from her mother and swam back to the clamshell. She worked her mermaid magic to change it to mauve, her hair colour.
