Dear Future Grade 5 Students
Hi my name is Kyle Pierce, In exhibition our central idea was, Society’s responsibility is to build a physically and mentally healthy community. I chose the topic “Civil Rights”. I chose this topic because I have learned about it before but I wanted to learn about more. This letter is about advice to you for exhibition.
My 1st piece of advice is to communicate with your partner because if you are working with a partner that you’ve never worked with before, you need to communicate with your partner so you can work well in exhibition. I had a partner that I never worked with before and when I collaborated with him, we got our work done.
My 2nd piece of advice is to split the jobs up evenly between your group members and because you can get your work done much faster. If you don’t, then you won’t get your work done as fast.
My 3rd piece of advice is to get your research done on time because of you don’t, you will fall behind and you won’t be ready for the end of exhibition.
I hope that this helps you, communicate, get your jobs done, and get your research done.
The biggest struggle during exhibition was probably finishing all our action and our showcase done in time for our presentation because it was hard because there was only two people in my group so we didn’t get it done as quick as other groups that had four people.
My group and I solved that challenge because we just moved to a quiet spot and barely communicated because we were so focused with getting the showcase done on time.
The thing that I learned about myself was probably, that I was nervous about it and i was shy during presentation. I think I was nervous about exhibition because I never kne w,y partner before so I thought it wouldn’t be a very good experience. But when I got to know him, I was a good experience
The most important part of exhibition is probably starting out really well and on task because then it will follow on during the rest of exhibition. If you don’t start out well, then you will probably fall behind and not be ready for the presentation.
What I would do differently is probably get more interviews done because we only had two interviews and it didn’t answer all of our questions so I would probably want more interviews.
Some advice is probably to communicate well with your group so you don’t fight. Another piece of advice is to probably stay on task so you don’t fall behind.
I thought my goal went well because if I would get off task I would just move to a different spot or just go for a walk and stretch out.
One post-it that I thought I did well on was, “everyone is prepared” because Jason and I got all of our things like our art and our presentation so we were prepared because we had all of things done so we just neeeded to practice our presentation.
another post-it I thought I did well on is, “good teamwork” because me and Jason, during exhibition we split up different jobs equally between us and I think that makes us a good team.
i don’t think I did well on this one because during our presentation, I would get a bit nervous, then I would slow down and not talk as loud. Also maybe because we had not that much people at a time at our stand and maybe we thought that we didn’t need to talk as loud
My group and I have done, we have finished our a showcase and all of our artwork. We have also focused on getting to know our topic really well.
One of our art pieces is a piece of poster paper, with on one side it has a picture of Rosa Parks and we drew the bus that she got kicked off of below the picture of Rosa Parks. On the other side of the poster, there is a picture of Viola Desmound and we drew the theatre that she got kicked out of.
Our other piece of our presentation was a timeline of different civil rights facts and events.
Our preparation for our presentation is to rehearse our conversations and just to stay calm and be confident.
Some challenges were running out of time, but we still managed to get everything done on time. It was a little bit challenging when we were struggling with our research but in the end we got it done. Some successes were when my partner and I were cooperating really well and we split up the jobs of the artwork in half so we could get it done quicker.
I feel things are going OK but sometimes we can get really focused and get some work done but other times we get distracted but still manage to get things done.
My goal is pushing myself further during reflection time and I think it’s OK. Sometimes I think I’m pushing myself but other times I’m not doing as well with my reflections.
What we need to do next is to get our interviews down and done. We also need to work on our action piece for presentation.
What Is Exhibition?
Exhibition is a really big project where you have to use different skills with different things. You have to have a good fit partner so you don’t argue or fight. In the research stage there has been a lot of sources that our librarian has given us. In the interview stage you have to think about all the questions that you have to ask your interview sources. After all, Exhibition is really fun!
Exhibition is exciting and fun at the beginning then it gets harder as you go on and it gets really stressful and hard. You have to use a lot of skills like Thinking Skills, Research Skills, And Communication Skills .
Exhibition provides us with some extra knowledge and we get some more information that we might not have known about the topic. It also provides us with resources that we can use to help us.
Some people might not know that Exhibition is harder than you think, and that it goes by really fast.
One attribute that I have showed is responsibility when I took responsibility with the research books.
Jason and I have started our research after we got permission on our research questions.
I feel things are going well but it is sometimes when we can’t connect our research with the key concept questions.
These are the questions that Jason and I created for research. We had to connect the questions to the key concepts. Then we had to pick our best 2 from each concept and those are our research questions.
This is a pic collage of what I think exhibition is going with my group and my topic and questions that connect to my topic and key concepts.
