Big Idea: There are many ways to approach good learning design, and the myriad frameworks often claim the be THE way to do learning. Today’s approach will honour the many ways that learning can be constructed, bringing process and collaborative tools to help generate a learning plan that suits each person’s unique style, curriculum, and approach.
Goals: To use the day collaboratively to design a rich and robust learning plan for your students.
A scope and sequenced Learning Design that can be readily shared with others for conversational and collaborative feedback.

9:00am The Pedagogical Rainforest. What makes for a “good” learning design? What are the ties that bind the many frameworks that have emerged over the years?
9:20am Phenomenological Improv. Merge themes, design projects, imagine exhibitions.
9:40am Pitch Tool: Brainstorm your big ideas, deliverables, community partners and ideas for exhibition.
10:10am Empathy Interview. What are your big ideas? What might be the phenomena on which you anchor the learning? Give & receive ideas and People, Places, and Programs
10:30am Coffee and Gallery Walk
11:00am Instructional Inventory: Further refine your ideas into some potential components of the learning.
11:45am Crowdsourcing: Describe the design in 1-3 sentences & leave your inventory alone. Get & gift potential inventory ideas.
12:00pm Lunch Provided
1:00pm Illustrated Learning Journey. Experiences vs. Reflections. (Above the line & below the line). Begin scoping & sequencing.
1:45pm Critical Friends Protocol
2:15pm Further design.
