Big Idea: The Rocky View Learning Department supports teachers and leaders who have innovative ideas that re-imagine the possibilities for learning and provides opportunities for them to connect with each other to collaborate on current initiatives and inspire new ones.

Driving Questions

What opportunities exist in Rocky View and beyond for collaboration, community partnership and innovation?
How might we design engaging and purposeful learning in our multiage colony schools?
What strategies and considerations might we employ to meet the needs of our learners and community?
Who will I need to support this initiative and in what ways?

Goals

To immerse ourselves in a colony school similar to our context for inspiration and reflection on our own practice and program.
To expand our network of exemplary teachers and learners.
To glean insights into teaching in a complex multi-age school, generate design challenge questions and begin prototyping possible solutions.

Deliverables

Connections with inspiring colleagues to share best practice.
2-3 Possible prototypes inspired by conversation and observation that we’l try in our schools.
A plan for prototyping to allow for future reflection and redesign at the Design Commons.
