Decomposing Numbers

In math we have been discussing ways of decomposing numbers. For example, the number 6 can be broken down into 4 and 2, 3 and 3, 1 and 5 or 0 and 6. The children are learning that regardless of how they move their counting chips around, the number remains the same unless counters are removed or added. thumb_img_0002_1024

Subitizing

In Math, students are working hard on developing their subitizing skills. That is, they are learning how to recognize familiar arrangements of objects without counting.
