Intro to Magnets!

In just the first few days back at school, we have kicked off the New Year with a number of new things! Today, we started our inquiry into magnets by brainstorming all that we already know, followed by some wonders that we have. Check out the pictures below to see what the kids know and wonder about magnets!

Challenge:  Find as many items around your house that are magnets, or USE magnets. Post them in a comment below!

    the holder for my dry erase markers sticks to my magnetic whiteboard because it has a magnet on it

    there are magnets on the back of our calendar that makes it stick to the fridge

    we use magnets to display pictures on our fridge

    There is a magnet on the sensors for our home alarm system.

    I have 2 magnets on my white board, I use these to stick paper to my white board

    The fridge door has a magnetic strip around the inside edge to keep the fridge closed (we did an experiment with a spoon to find out where the magnet was on the inside of the fridge)

    we have a screwdriver that is magnetic,for example, when we need to replace batteries in a toy we have to take the screw out that screw will stick to the magnetic strip on the screwdriver so we don’t lose the screw and can easily put it back in it’s spot.

    In my room I have magnets on my whiteboard. My stove cooks our food using magnets.
