Values of Canadian Communities

Using the mindmaps for the maritimes and the arctic communities, talk with your parents and families about what you think each community would value. Remember, value means anything that people think are important to help them live and survive. People and communities can value things that are wants AND needs.

Bonus: What do you think we value living in the prairies? What are things that we think are important in the prairies?

    Arctic values

    Spear fishing because it’s fun.
    Muktuk because it’s good.
Dog sledding because they can have races.

    Maritimes

The Atlantic ocean because they fish all the time.
The snow so they can have fun, because it gets really tall.
Shelter because if they didn’t have shelter they would die
Family because then they people to protect them.

    The prairies

Crops because they can eat them.
Electricity so we can have lights.
They value that it’s flat because they can drive everywhere.
