Immigration & Emigration Inquiry

We have been talking as a class about immigration and emigration between different places; whether between local communities all the way to international communities. Please leave a comment below answering any questions that relate to your experiences so we as a class can have a conversation to explore real-life situations and how they affect communities.

1) If you immigrated to Canada, why did you choose Canada as your home?

2) If you lived in another community, why did you move to Chestermere? If you moved from a different home, why did you change homes?

3) How have you kept your culture as you moved?

4) Were you forced/or had to leave your previous home? Why did you have to emigrate?

5) Do you have any additional stories to share?

I didn’t immigrate to Canada but my parents did. My moms uncle and aunt adopted her so she had to come here. We moved to Chestermere from Conrich because our family lived in Chestermere and it was closer to our schools. Yes, we kept our culture because we still follow the same tradtions. My parents had the choice to immigrate to Canada, they were not forced to come here.
