Today, our Grade 7-12 student had the opportunity to travel to the Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary for a special matinee performance of “Kaahsinnoniks (our ancestors)” presented by the Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society. Students were presented with a series of skits showing scenes from the history of the peoples involved in the creation of Treaty 7, the impacts of that treaty on those who were involved in it. This presentation ties directly into several social studies curricular outcomes and teachers will be referencing it in ongoing learning this year.
Grade 2 students enjoyed participating in “Nature Time” on Wednesday. This time focuses on being outside, noticing changes in our environment, appreciating where we live, having fun and exploring. Students played on the wood chip pile and in the leaves. They enjoyed making leaf piles, jumping in the leaves, making “leaf angels” and throwing leaves in the air.
Yearbooks for last year are in! If you’d like to purchase a copy, they are available at the office for $20

We hope everyone had a fantastic summer!! The first day of school is Tuesday September 4th, 8:40 AM for Grades K-12.
On Tuesday morning, K-6 staff will be outside the front of the school to direct students and help them get to their classrooms; teachers for these grades will each have a sign for their grade, so students will need to find their teacher. 7-12 students will proceed to the gym where they will meet their focus block teacher. Lists of who the focus block teachers are will be posted in the gym.

Tomorrow will be our annual Elementary Play Day! Students will be put into teams and work through a number of activities inside the school and out in the field. Please ensure your child has sunscreen on and bug spray if you wish. We will be providing a snack to students during the event, but they will need a bottle of water and lunch as usual. Looking forward to some fun in the sun!
Further to our earlier post, there are a number of smaller and more valuable items that are kept at the office. Please check the picture below and if there are any items that look familiar, we would ask that a parent/guardian come in to pick these items up. Any unclaimed items as of 4pm Thursday, June 28th will be donated.
